Q: What do you call an ex-lawyer from Atlanta, GA/New Haven, CT?

A: A jeweler!

That’s the short story of Charmed Design’s recent career change. The longer story involves creating bracelets as a constructive way to deal with the recovery period after a sudden, life-threatening illness. But from adversity comes a new way of looking at things, and this artist named her business after how she now perceives her life: CHARMED!

Much of her jewelry reflects this idea, using charms and talismans from different cultures around the world. She incorporates these into bracelets and necklaces, some casual and others with a bit more bling.

For her Jewish themed pieces, she uses a combination of Stars of David, Chamsas, Trees of Life, and Chais, among others. I thought the wrap bracelet above is a great example of her feel for combining her charms into three dimensional jewelry collages.

During the etsychai Miracles of Hanukkah sale, Charmed Design is offering 10% off the whole store. Just use the code word in the “Notes to Seller”: If you are coming from this blog, use the secret word "candles."   For Jewish Woman Magazine, use the secret word "JW Mag."

And now for a word from our sponsor. (Really, click in the link and watch the video!)

Yes, that’s Etsychai’s very own Judy Kaplan, owner of Silver Dot Jewelry Designs! Even though she’ll be moving to Seattle in April, she’s still offering some wonderful pieces in her shop. In anticipation of the move, she’s discounted all items in her shop 25%-35% (reductions already reflected in the prices). So this would be a great time to make your purchase.

Judy likes to work with different metals and different types of stones, resulting in jewelry that is truly one of a kind. And if you don’t see exactly what you want, contact her. She also does custom work.

Check her out and get in on the bargains, before she begins packing everything up for her move!
