Go Green with EtsyChai – Trees

At the center of celebrating TuB’Shvat are trees.  Customs include eating fruits and grains from Israel, the biblical seven species: “...a land of wheat and barley and (grape) vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and (date) honey.” (Deuteronomy 8:8)

     

The seven species are:
wheat; barley; grapes; fig; pomegranate; olive; & date.

    

People celebrate the richness of the land with food, tree donations, plantings, harmony with nature and environmental awareness.
